As we step into a new year, will you find the fun with me?! There are so many things to celebrate – big and small – here are 30+ ways to Find The Fun with The Curious Year calendar this January.
January is Hot Tea Month. It’d be a great time to try out a new tea flavor (this shop has such fun ones 😍), take a friend their favorite tea, or if you’re feeling extra – have a little tea party with all your par-tea people 🫖 😉
January 1st – Commitment Day. Maybe commit to going for a walk every day (rain or shine), or attempt to read one book per month for the year 💪🏼 I’ll be sharing more about this later this week, but I’m committing to writing & sending 1 card (snail mail style) per week this year 💌🤓
January 2nd – Cream Puff Day. Make homemade cream puffs or purchase cream puffs to enjoy with someone/s 😋
January 3rd – Write to Congress Day. Here are some tips for writing letters to Congress 📝
January 4th – Trivia Day. Play a trivia game, read off a list of trivia questions at dinner, or have your own game of Jeopardy with your family, friends, or roommate! Winner gets a prize 🤩🏆
January 5th – Whipped Cream Day. Make homemade whipped cream or buy ready-made whipped cream to have on your coffee, hot chocolate, etc… basically just enjoy whipped cream on anything & everything you eat/drink today! ☕️
January 6th – Bean Day. Make something with beans! Ideas: chili, black bean salsa, or switch gears and try out this fun bean craft 😜
January 7th – Bobblehead Day. This is how bobbleheads came to be and here’s how to make one 🔨🤓
January 8th – Bubble-Bath Day. Here are the keys to the perfect bubble bath 🛁😎
January 9th – Choreographer’s Day. Choreograph a dance with your friends or kiddos – or watch a classic dance movie like Footloose or Dirty Dancing 💃🏼🕺🏻
January 10th – Sunday Supper Day. Host a Sunday supper! Have a cozy night in, light candles, invite some folks over to share in the sunday supper with you. Here are some supper suggestions 🍽
January 11th – Step in a puddle and splash your friends day. If you can’t find a puddle, you could “splash your friends” and play water gun squirt game 💦
January 12th – Marzipan Day. Read this if you’re wondering what the heck marzipan is – and to celebrate, I recommend watching this episode of The Great British Bake Off where they make Battenburg cakes, which are essentially small fancy cakes wrapped in marzipan 🍰😎
January 13th – Make Your Dreams Come True Day. Make a list of your dreams & share them over dinner with your people while listening to this song ✨
January 14th – Dress up your pet day. Or maybe your kiddo’s stuffed animal if you don’t have a pet? 🐶🐱
January 15th – World Snow Day. Cut out paper snowflakes, make homemade snow cones, or watch a wintery snowy movie (like Little Women). And if there’s actually snow outside where you live, go play in the snow ❄️
January 16th – National Nothing Day. “People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing everyday” – Winnie the Pooh. Was there ever anyone wiser? Read up on how to do nothing, or schedule time to do absolutely nothing today 📆
January 17th – Kid Inventors Day. The responses to asking a kid in your life: “what would you invent if you could?” are sure to be endlessly entertaining 😆
January 18th – Winnie the Pooh Day (birthday of author A.A. Milne 1882). Read Winnie the Pooh, watch a Winnie the Pooh movie, or listen to this podcast episode where a Winnie-the-Poohologist deciphers how old Winne the Pooh Bear is 🧸🍯
January 19th – Popcorn Day. Make your own popcorn seasonings or have a popcorn bar with different toppings and add-ins and have a little TV show/movie night 😎🍿
January 20th – Penguin Awareness Day. Read a sweet book about penguins or watch penguin movie like Happy Feet or Penguins 🐧🎩
January 21st – Soup Swap Day. We’re well into beloved Soup Season and what better way to celebrate than with a soup swap?! Here’s how to make a soup swap happen – you’ll end up with soup for days. Bring some baguettes and it’s a win, win. 🥖
January 22nd – Polka Dot Day. Wear something with polka dotted or read a short history of polka dots 👙
January 23rd – Handwriting Day. Write a handwritten letter or note to someone or try turning your handwriting into a font ✍🏼
January 24th – Belly Laugh Day. Maybe watch a comedy special or your favorite funny movie and get your laugh on 🤣
January 25th – Opposite Day. The best idea I found is to have dinner for breakfast 🍕 and breakfast for dinner 🍳 You can find more ideas for opposite day here!
January 26th – Clashing Clothes Day. My only idea here is to let your young kiddos dress themselves 💁🏼♀️
January 27th – Chocolate Cake Day. What better reason to bake a cake! Here’s an easy box chocolate cake mix, or the recipe for the “best chocolate cake of your life.” 🍫
January 28th – Blueberry Pancake Day. There’s nothing like a little taste of summer in the dead of winter 🫐😋
January 29th – Puzzle Day. Have a go at a real puzzle, a crossword puzzle, or any other kind of puzzle (does Wordle count?! 🧐)
January 30th – Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day. Here are 10 fun ways to use bubble wrap 🗯
January 31st – Inspire your heart with art day. Visit an art museum or gallery, shop art made by local makers, make some art for someone! 🎨
